‘He Wanted to Cut My Rhythm’ – Carlos Alcaraz Blames Stefanos Tsitsipas’ Weird Attitude During Their Heated Battle at ATP Barcelona Open 2022

Yesterday, at the Barcelona Open, we saw an intense between Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas. In terms of tennis, the match was simply exceptional. However, the match also had some verbal arguments, especially with the chair umpire regarding the bathroom break. Although the Spaniard won the match in three sets, he talked about Tsitsipas disturbing his rhythm.

In the past, Alcaraz and Tsitsipas had some feisty battles, and it has always been entertaining to watch the duo taking on each other. During their recent encounter at the Barcelona Open, Alcaraz edged past the Greek player 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in two hours and 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, Tsitsipas had an argument with the chair umpire regarding Alcaraz taking a long bathroom break. Also, he received a point penalty for taking a long time during a changeover in the third set. Tsitsipas also accused Alcaraz of taking a long bathroom break.

Speaking about it after the match, Alcaraz said, “He (Tsitsipas) wanted to cut my rhythm when he went to the locker room but he couldn’t.” (Google Translate)

Also, he did an analysis of his match against world no.5 in an expert way. “In the end, Tsitsipas is a tennis player who plays very well from the baseline and I would say that it may be difficult for him to go further forward than to the sides. I have a good dropshot, I think, and it is a resource that I use for that,” the 18-year-old tennis player further said. 

Unsurprisingly, the crowd was Pro-Alcaraz throughout the match. Speaking about the home crowd, he said, “On more than one occasion I have had goosebumps. The track shouting my name, chanting at me… Today was amazing.”

Notably, this is the third time they faced each other and Alcaraz won all of them.

Incidentally, this is the first time the Spaniard has reached the semi-final in Barcelona. In his last four clash, Alcaraz will lock horns against Alex de Minaur. Earlier, the Aussie player beat the Brit, Cameron Norrie in the other quarter-final,

Meanwhile, the Spaniard is on a cloud nine after breaking into the Top 10 for the first time ever in his career. Speaking about it, he said, “Everything has come very quickly and it’s a good mistake.”

Coincidentally, Rafael Nadal also reached the top 10 after winning in Barcelona on 25th April 2005. And on Monday, 25th April, Alcaraz will also enter the top ten after the release of the latest ATP rankings.
