The Australian Open quarter-final between Daniil Medvedev and Felix Auger-Aliassime was one to behold. In an epic five-setter bout between two top 10 players in the world, the top-seeded Medvedev won the uphill battle.

The 21-year-old Canadian surely had the Russian backed into a corner, as he won the first two sets. Nevertheless, Medvedev never lost hope and won the final three sets to secure his place in the semi-final.

All said and done, young Felix Auger-Aliassime chalked up the match as a learning experience. Moreover, he is proud of what he achieved in the Rod Laver Arena today.

Young Felix has learned a lot from his battle against Daniil Medvedev

Felix Auger-Aliassime certainly has his regrets about his loss to Daniil Medvedev. After all, he had the title favorite on the backfoot with two sets secured.

Of course, he does wish that he had walked away victorious, and he expressed as much. “I wish I could go back and change it but I can’t,” Aliassime shared.

However, the young star is choosing to look at this experience optimistically. “I look at it in a very positive way,” Felix said. In that vein, the World No. 9 is “going to leave Australia with (his) head held high.”

Furthermore, this quarter-final tussle against the best player in the tournament inspires him for the rest of the season, too. Thus, Aliassime is “gonna go into the rest of the season knowing (he) can play well against the best players in the world.”
