Heart-Warming Moment at Paris Masters as Novak Djokovic Rushes to Console Bawling Grigor Dimitrov After Lop-Sided Final

Novak Djokovic is a legend in the true sense. While his on-court exploits are no secret, he has been involved in acts of kindness on many occasions. One such moment occurred at the ongoing Paris Masters. The World Number 1 was up against Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in the final of the tournament. After the match, he did a wonderful act that received many plaudits.

In what was a lop-sided final, Djokovic got the better of Dimitrov in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. It was yet another final defeat for Dimitrov who had worked hard the entire week. Here’s what happened after their match.

After the match was over, Djokovic proceeded to the court for the interview. Meanwhile, Dimitrov was seated in his chair, trying to get hold of the moment. Subsequently, he burst into tears as he couldn’t produce his best in the match.

Watching Dimitrov cry, Djokovic left the interview mid-way and proceeded towards Dimitrov to console him. While the Bulgarian was in his chair, Djokovic tried to hug him in order to give him the strength to face this moment.

Djokovic’s act of kindness went viral on social media as the picture of him consoling and hugging Dimitrov was shared online. Thousands of fans commented on it and praised Djokovic for his champion act.

On the other hand, the Serb was brutal in his performance against Dimitrov. In a match lasting just over an hour and a half, he got the better of his Bulgarian opponent in straight sets. It was the second finals defeat for Dimitrov this year, having also lost in the summit clash in Geneva. Meanwhile, Djokovic is flying high after recording his 40th Masters 1000 title.

Djokovic and Dimitrov share a good relationship on and off the court. Their friendship goes a long way back. Before their match today, an old clip resurfaced, showing their respect for each other.

When Djokovic and Dimitrov shared a quick laugh

During the 2014 BNP Paribas Masters, Djokovic and Dimitrov were involved together in an interview. This clip resurfaced hours before their match today and showed a delightful glimpse into the camaraderie that they share even today.

While Dimitrov was voicing his opinions about the tournament and tennis in general, Djokovic decided to go off-topic. The latter made a witty comment, proclaiming Dimitrov as the “best-looking guy on the tour.” While Dimitrov was engrossed in tennis conversation, Djokovic playfully diverted him, saying, “You don’t need to talk about tennis”.

With the 2023 season nearing its end, Dimitrov will be looking to get over this heartbreak and come back stronger in the next season. On the other hand, Djokovic will look to finish this season on a high at the ATP World Tour Finals.
