Gael Monfils is one of the most loved players on the tour. Currently ranked 20th in the world, the French player continues to play at his top form, winning the Adelaide 1 2022 warm-up tournament. He is also in the last 8 of the Australian Open 2022. 

Gael Monfils is 35 years of age. However, he doesn’t seem to get affected by age. Perhaps, age just seems to be a number for him. Quad Wheelchair Singles rank 1, Dylan Alcott’s conversation with Monfils is a confirmation for this.

Australian Open on 24th January released a video in which Dylan Alcott was seen talking about his age-related conversation with Gael Monfils. 

Alcott’s locker room chat with Monfils

Australian Open released a video of Dylan Alcott on their social media account. In the video, Dylan Alcott spoke about his locker room conversation with Monfils. 

He started by saying, “I was in the locker room with Gael Monfils, he won in straight (sets), we’re both, like, cooked. I was like, “We are old!” and he’s like 35.”

‘More Than a Partnership’: Gael Monfils Is Excited to Start a New Chapter After Parting Ways With Wilson

A reporter asked the Quad Wheelchair player if Monfils won. To which he replied, “We were both like this, we were both laughing, going: “Oh my god. I’m the oldest man in this world.” And he wants to keep playing! What is he doing?”

He ended the video on a high note, praising Monfils, calling him a ‘weapon’. However, he also announced his retirement from professional tennis.

Gael Monfils has been on an impressive run at the opening slam of the year. Winning 12 straight sets, The French is in the Quarter Finals of Australian Open 2022. He will next face 7th seed Matteo Berrettini to book a spot in the last 4.

On the other hand, Dylan Alcott is in the Finals of the Quad Wheelchair singles event. He will face Netherland’s, Sam Schroder.
