Alcaraz Carlos Garfia has been winning both matches and the hearts of the people. The teenager has been compared with his country’s greatest player, Rafael Nadal, on more than one occasion. He has been grinding himself to be the top player in 2022. The young Spanish player had a great 2022 where he has been performing extremely well. Frances Tiafoe showered praises on the Spanish teenager after the stats of Rafa and Carlos came out.

On April 25, 2005, Rafa had become a part of the Top 10 of ATP rankings. Now, exactly 17 years later, history is repeating itself. ATP released stats of the same day, different years of the two Spanish players. It stated, “Same Place. Same Day. Different 18yr old Spaniard April 25th, 2005 – Rafael Nadal breaks into the Top 10 after winning in Barcelona and April 25th, 2022- Carlos Alcaraz breaks into the Top 10 after Barcelona”. Tiafoe shared the stats on his Instagram story and made his admiration for the young Spaniard clear. He stated, “He’s the one”Carlos has been gaining a lot of admiration from people around the world because of his consistency in court.

Carlos recently won the Rio Open and then Miami Open and advanced to the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open. The semi-finals got delayed due to rainfall. Alcaraz defeated top-seeded player Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open. He would now be facing Alex De Minaur in the semi-finals.

The Spanish player had the opportunity to play with his idol at the 2022 Indian Wells in the semi-finals. Though he was defeated there, he was satisfied with his performance. Carlos’s role model is Rafael Nadal. Moreover, he has always seen him performing and has idolized him since he was young.
