ATP released stats of the same day, different years of the two Spanish players. It stated, “Same Place. Same Day. Different 18yr old Spaniard April 25th, 2005 – Rafael Nadal breaks into the Top 10 after winning in Barcelona and April 25th, 2022- Carlos Alcaraz breaks into the Top 10 after Barcelona”. Tiafoe shared the stats on his Instagram story and made his admiration for the young Spaniard clear. He stated, “He’s the one”. Carlos has been gaining a lot of admiration from people around the world because of his consistency in court.

Carlos recently won the Rio Open and then Miami Open and advanced to the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open. The semi-finals got delayed due to rainfall. Alcaraz defeated top-seeded player Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open. He would now be facing Alex De Minaur in the semi-finals.

The Spanish player had the opportunity to play with his idol at the 2022 Indian Wells in the semi-finals. Though he was defeated there, he was satisfied with his performance.
