Tennis enthusiasts around the world are well aware of the rivalry between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Their epic battles on the court have kept fans on the edge of their seats for over a decade. But what does Nadal’s uncle, Toni Nadal, have to say about Federer? Well, Toni’s first impression of his nephew’s arch-nemesis is based on his deep observation skills. In the book “The Roger Federer Effect”, Toni Nadal revealed what he first thought of Federer when he watched him play at Centre Court. It was during the third round match against the American star Mardy Fish that Toni, who was there with his nephew for the tournament, was immediately impressed with the Swiss’ game, but also something else too. Something that was totally not related to Federer’s game on the court.

However, the admiration was mutual, as Federer has often spoken about his respect for Nadal’s game and work ethic.
