Laver Cup captains lock horns in a funny banter

At a recent press conference, Borg and McEnroe, who now lead Team Europe and Team World, shared some playful banter that harkened back to their intense matches on the court. Borg, with a sly grin, declared, “They think they’re in good shape but they are not, I’m just telling you that. We are ready to beat these guys.” It was classic Borg – calm, collected, and quietly confident.

McEnroe, always one for provocation, countered, “That doesn’t sound like him. Maybe they’re upset that they finally lost last year.

Borg, reflecting on last year’s defeat, said, “I have a good team, I’m very happy with my team, we had a good practice this whole week. I think it’s going to be a very interesting match. Unfortunately, we lost last year as you all know. That was a very big disappointment, but these 6 guys are eager to bring back the trophy to Europe.”

Both captains made it clear that their competitive spirit is still very much alive. Borg summed it up perfectly, stating, “We hate to lose and we love to win. Its the same with these guys. It’s going to be very competitive. No one likes to lose, It’s the same with us.”

Interestingly, Borg and McEnroe have playfully teased each other like this before when it comes to the Laver Cup.
