The New York Times tennis correspondent Christopher Clarey tweeted Fritz’s reaction to the criticism. He tweeted, “Asked American Taylor Fritz about Federer’s farewell match at the Laver Cup. As usual, Fritz called it as he saw it.”

Fritz was highly disappointed with the anger of fans and their reactions. He said, “But I was pretty upset to see how much hate Frances and Jack got for winning the match and Frances got for hitting Roger or hitting the ball at Rafa at the net. This is not an exhibition. We are playing for a lot and a lot of money. It bothered me a lot because I know Roger would have hated it if they just gave it to him.”

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer, had no concerns about the result and held a private reception after the match to commemorate his exemplary career.
