Rune recently partnered up with legendary coach Boris Becker, intending to attain a subsequent position at the Paris Masters and the Nitto ATP Finals. In 2022, Boris Becker faced legal issues related to the Insolvency Act, which led him to a conviction along with being sentenced to a two-and-a-half-year span in prison. However, the German tennis coach managed to return to Germany after serving 8 months of his sentence. Now that he is banned from the UK for potentially up to 10 years, Holger Rune recently spoke at the UTS Grand Final in London.
Sharing his perspective on the matter, he mentioned, “I know many players that really like him. So do I. Whatever he’s doing off the court, I don’t need to have an opinion on that because I hired him to coach me, not to do anything else.”

Along with stating his ignorance and relevance of Boris Becker’s off-court activities, Holger Rune also showed faith in his coach as he added, “He’s a great guy. He’s a really good man. I think if people mistake him from that, it’s totally wrong, because he has a great heart and he’s a great coach.” As the legal backdrop still surrounds the German coach, Rune’s words seemed focused on the partnership’s potential and the coaching expertise that Becker brings to the young Dan’s side.
