A few days back, Holger Rune parted ways with the former coach of Roger Federer just 40 days after his inclusion to his team. His mother, Aneke Rune, who’s also his manager, later clarified that scheduling conflicts were the primary reason for the split. However, Rune’s mother has again come under the spotlight with a recent hint at the changes that are going to take place in the 20-year-old Dane’s team.

Holger Rune had earlier admitted how his mother plays a very key role in his team. Aneke Rune has been heavily involved in all the off-court dealings related to her son so far. She has been a guide in Holger Rune’s life. But now, according to the Danish newspaper eb.dk Aneke Rune will no longer handle inquiries from the press.

Speaking about his mother, Holger Rune had earlier said, “She’s a huge influence. She really helps to kind of keep me in the perfect state of mind. Obviously, she knows me better than anybody. That’s also why she’s travelling with me for every tournament. I want her for every tournament. I want her there because I really feel the support. Also, if I feel like I have something that I want to get off my heart or something, I can always come to her and talk. We have this very unique relationship.”

As of now, it seems Boris Becker and Kenneth Carlsen are going to play a key role in framing Holger Rune’s future for the rest of the season on the court. Aneke Rune had earlier admitted that she would be replaced by a significant member of her son’s life at some point in time.

Aneke Rune reveals she always offers honest opinions to her son

A few months back, Aneke said, “At some point, I think there will be a girlfriend he can talk to and then it’s not me anymore. But I think it’s different to have someone who is not that directly involved on-court in how you’ve to play. It’s nice to have someone off-court that you can talk to.” 

She further added, “When he comes to me and asks for an honest opinion, he always gets it honest. It’s easier to be honest when you’re a parent because… you can hate your parents. But it’s so rare that you hate them for life. Even though he may get pissed when I say the truth, I always do, and I think he likes it because he knows he can trust me.“

Holger Rune got booed by the disappointed fans after he was forced to retire during the SF clash at Open Sud de France on Saturday due to an injury. He was seen struggling with his right arm for a while during the match. Can his new team get the best out of him for the rest of the season?
