Many young tennis players aspire to be like tennis legends like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. And a tennis player named Lorenzo Musetti, 21, who is a huge fan of Swiss Maestro, is one of them. And recently, the young Italian tennis player expressed his fear of not facing the King of Clay Courts, Rafael Nadal, in any of the clay court tournaments.

Musetti recently made news for recording the most significant victory of his career. In the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters, he overcame Novak Djokovic, the top-ranked tennis player in the world. However, the Italian tennis player is prepared to defeat the other two big three rivals after defeating one of them.

Roger Federer’s fan, Lorenzo Musetti, fears facing Rafael Nadal 

In a recent interview with Claytennis, the 21-year-old tennis player discussed his hopes of one day competing against his idol on the tennis court. However, a match between him and the tennis legend is not possible given that the 20-time Grand Slam champion retired from competitive tennis last year. He also mentioned how he would prefer to play the Spaniard, but not on clay.

He said, “My dream was to face Roger Federer, but he retired. I played him in training, but it’s not the same as taking the field against a legend. I think it will be the same with Rafa Nadal, I hope I won’t face him on clay.. but they are matches you will never forget.”

He did, however, also express a desire to compete against Rafa. Additionally, he disclosed in the same conversation that he would have become an actor even if he hadn’t chosen to play tennis today. Nevertheless, the Italian tennis player spoke about Federer’s inspiration when he was all set to face the 36-year-old tennis player’s challenge at an ATP tour event in Dubai.
