Over the past few months, tennis authorities have come down heavily on violations such as doping, corruption, etc. Stars like Simona Halep and Mark Philippoussis have faced the music for these illegal actions. The International Tennis Integrity Agency maintains the highest standards for the game and has strictly taken action against any sort of irregularities. Recently, American tennis star, Jenson Brooksby, faced heat from the same agency. However, he revealed a shocking reason for why he was sanctioned.

The 23-year-old hasn’t competed since the Australian Open this year due to injury. Despite having a positive start to the season, his stint was cut short after he underwent surgery on his left wrist. But it seems he was suspended for a different reason.

The former World Number 33 reached the third round of the Australian Open this year before injury affected his season. While being off the court, the American star also missed three doping tests. Rules state that if a player misses 3 tests in a span of 12 months, the player is bound to face action. While Brooksby accepted that missing the first two tests was his mistake. He completely denied missing the third one purposefully.

Talking about it, he said, “The crazy thing is I was in the hotel I said I would be at. I was in my room at the given time and my physio was with me. I had a room number assigned to my name and they said I hadn’t checked in. I was there for 4 nights already. So I am getting 18 months for this.”

Earlier, fellow American star, Reilly Opelka, took to Instagram to support his compatriot. Opelka wrote, “Players are getting zapped off addys (adderall) but you enter the wrong hotel address and you get suspended for 18 months. Bs.”

Brooksby will face an 18-month ban for missing 3 doping tests in less than 12 months. As the announcement about his ban was made earlier this week, he broke his silence on this matter with an honest confession.
