Worrying times for Nick Kyrgios

The US Open is just one month away from here. Kyrgios would be eager to participate after going as far as the quarter-finals last year. However, his body might not support him. The injury concerns shot up after he withdrew from Wimbledon citing wrist issues. It seems that there has been no respite for the Aussie.

He took to his Instagram to give further updates on the wrist. Kyrgios said via his Instagram story, “Unfortunately my body is not ready to compete yet. My wrist is still not anywhere near to pain free. Keep you all updated.

Plenty of ranking points at stake for Nick Kyrgios

Currently ranked 35th in the World, Kyrgios could dive into a much deeper hole if he misses the US Open. He is set to lose his 500 points from Washington Open. More than 90% of Kyrgios’ ranking points come from tournaments that take place in the next four weeks and if he is out for the North American hard court season, the Aussie could even bow out of the top 400!

For someone who wishes to retire early, Kyrgios might genuinely lack the motivation to come back from this slump. Do you think he will play in the US Open? Let us know in the comments.
