Several active players on both tours still idolize the Swiss Maestro and look up to him. A certain Canadian star appears to be one of the biggest Roger Federer fans among the active players. The Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov is a massive Roger Federer admirer. He has never failed to show his love and admiration for the 20-time major champion. In fact, the Canadian was offended when someone recently referred to Federer as ‘inactive‘.

Shapovalov sat down for a question and answer session with the ATP Tour. In one of the questions, the producer asked him, “Which player is the best at pulling off an all-white outfit?“. Unsurprisingly, the Federer fanboy said, “I think Roger, it just looks clean on him.

However, the producer asked Shapovalov to name an active player and his reaction was priceless. He put up a smile and sarcastically said, “How dare you!?” He started laughing himself and said, “You didn’t need to say that, just broke everybody’s heart. Not (retired) in our hearts, okay? (laughs)

Shapovalov’s reaction and emotions showed how much the Swiss Maestro meant to him.

A slight mention of Federer not being active anymore offended the Canadian. In fact, Shapovalov is still not over Federer’s retirement.

It seems like Shapovalov hasn’t digested his idol’s retirement so far. He quoted the tweet that featured his reaction video and said, “still shook” along with a laughing emoticon. The fans in the replies could relate to him as they have had a hard time dealing with retirement. It’s been close to 10 months since the Swiss Maestro called it a day, but the fan-following hasn’t taken a dip.

Shapovalov has also previously revealed how Roger Federer was his hero and he tried to copy his playing style. During his retirement last year, he also put up a heartwarming post for the Swiss Ace and thanked him for being an inspiration.
