The event, which is supposed to start from the 22nd of this month, will feature players from Serbia, Spain, Austria, Italy, Canada, etc., In a big blow to team Canada’s chances before the marquee event, Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime decided to skip the tournament.

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov decided to skip the Davis Cup Finals
Felix’s decision comes owing to the slight knee injury he has been facing over the past few months on the ATP tour. The Canadian, who saw success at Grand Slams this year as he reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and debuted into the semis at the US Open.

Felix took to Instagram to announce his decision.
“I’m sorry to announce that I won’t be able to join my teammates in representing Canada at this years Davis Cup Finals. Since my early days in tennis, it has always been a priority and privilege to step on the court to defend the colours of my country”.

On the other hand, Shapovalov, who entered the Stockholm Open as the defending champion, lost in the finals this year to the rising American tennis player, Tommy Paul. Post this defeat, Shapovalov announced his decision to sit out of the team event in order to take some rest in the off-season.
