Novak married his long-time girlfriend, Jelena Ristic (now Djokovic) back in 2014. They got engaged a year before in 2013 and have been the face of couple goals in tennis. However, how does it concern Djokovic Sr.? He was not against the marriage, according to him, he just didn’t like the location the couple chose.

So, in his speech, Djokovic Sr. describes the situation in depth. According to BLIC, he says: “I ask him why on St. Stefan, your country is Serbia, your city is Belgrade. I’m begging you – what I’ve been learning all my life, it’s one country and one people. I hung up the phone and cried for half an hour – so much for parenting.” This statement clearly reflects his disappointment. It seems like Djokovic Sr. wanted the wedding in Belgrade itself.
