Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played out one of the best US Open matches of all time. The young rivals were up against each other in the quarterfinal of the US Open 2022. In a long and enthralling five-set clash, Alcaraz got the better of Sinner. While everyone was full of praise for both the players, Sinner was a bit disappointed to let the opportunity slip off his hands. The 21-year-old later interacted with the media and here’s what he had to say.
Jannik Sinner speaks about his disappointing loss
Both Alcaraz and Sinner played a near-perfect match, making it very hard to determine the winner until the very end. However, even after a magnificent performance, the 21-year-old Italian was disappointed after losing the match. Addressing the media later, he said, “I had some tough losses, for sure. This is in the top list. I think this one will hurt for quite a while.”

Although, the 11th seed still wants to take only positives from the match. “But when I wake up, I will try to somehow take only the positives. But it’s tough, for sure. Maybe next time I can win this,” he added.

Earlier this year, Sinner and Alcaraz clashed in the fourth round of the Wimbledon championships. Sinner defeated Alcaraz and advanced to the quarterfinals, where he gave a tough fight to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic. However, the Serb came back from a two-set deficit and won the next three to clinch the game.

Carlos Alcaraz to face Frances Tiafoe in the semifinal
As Alcaraz advances to his first-ever Grand Slam semifinal, the 19-year-old will face the American tennis star Frances Tiafoe for a place in the final. The 24-year-old is coming with a boosted confidence after defeating Rafael Nadal in his round of 16 clash.

Furthermore, the American went past Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinal with an easy straight-set victory. While the 24-year-old looks to be in sublime form, he also has a perfect record against Alcaraz.
