As Alexander Zverev secures his 6th Master 1000 title, he’s geared up to tackle the big matches ahead. He defeated Nicolas Jarry in straight sets with a dominant performance, especially while serving, to win his second Italian Open championship. Zverev now has his sights set on the French Open, where he “can beat anyone” if he is in the right form. Well, seems like big names like Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz are also included in that “anyone.”

After winning the Italian Open, in a post-match press conference, he was asked – “Considering the doubts about the other big names – Jannik, Carlos, Novak, Rafa too – do you think Roland Garros can be a big chance for your career to win a slam?” While answering, the German tennis player asserts himself as a force to be reckoned with at the Paris party, aiming for Roland Garros to become his tournament.

Zverev said, “Look, I’ve said it many times before, and I’m going to say it again: I’m somebody that I know when I don’t play well, I can lose to anyone, but when I play well, I know I can beat anyone. That’s my mindset. That’s how I think about it. I know I have to focus on myself, to find my rhythm in Paris the way I did here. Then everything is on my own racquet.”

He clearly emphasized the fact that everything depends on his mindset, if he has a winning mindset he can win against anything whether it be the world number one or anyone else. The 27-year-old not only reaches a new career high with his sixth Master 1000 victory, but he also moves up to fourth in the standings.

With this accomplishment, Zverev is showing signs of recovery and getting closer to his peak, which is encouraging going into the Roland Garros event. However, the German tennis player has his focus on something else more than the French Open.

He stated, “The focus is on Paris for sure, but let me enjoy this one for a few days first. Rome is a very special place for me. Obviously, it’s a very, very special week.” The fourth-ranked tennis player, on the other hand, couldn’t help but make fun of Jannik Sinner after winning his rival’s home tournament in Italy.

Alexander Zverev took a lighthearted jab at one of his rivals

In a lighthearted remark to Jannik Sinner, reigning Italian Open winner Alexander Zverev referred to him after defeating Nicolas Jarry in the decisive match. Zverev grinned widely and said, “Buongiorno everyone, my name is Jannik,” celebrating his triumph on the field Sinner had undoubtedly longed to play on.

He expressed his gratitude, noting, “Normally the crowd always wants the underdog to do good, the underdog to win. I really felt like they were behind me so much. It helps. I really appreciate it.” His remarks disclose a deeper aspect of the story: the innate passion that Italians have for their own, demonstrated by their backing of current World No. 2 Jannik Sinner, a native prodigy who wins respect and affection from his peers thanks to his skill on the court.
