‘I Feel Really Bad for Everyone’ – Andrey Rublev Highlights the Need To Stay United Amid the Ukraine-Russia Crisis

Andrey Rublev has been vocal about the current tensions between his country and Ukraine. The current geopolitical situation is not favorable, to say the least. The tension between Ukraine and Russia continues to wreak havoc on the lives of the common people in both countries.

Recently, Andrey Rublev, who is known for his anti-war stance was again asked about the situation and shared his thoughts.

Andrey Rublev urges the sports community to be united

Andrey Rublev first made headlines in this context by writing “no war please” on the camera glass after his semifinal win in the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships. The war was in its initial days back then.

Now that the controversy about Wimbledon’s decision of not allowing Russian players to take part unless they publicly denounce Putin has also reached its zenith. Many tennis players have either opened up about it or sent messages of support regarding the same.

Recently after his quarter-final match in Indian Wells, Rublev was again asked about his opinion on the situation. Rublev replied that he did not take mainstream news as it is. This is because there is a chance that it could have been manipulated. But he also spoke about how he sympathizes with everyone who is going through this unrest. In addition, he urged the sporting community to unify and be supportive. He opined maintaining unity and keeping spots outside of political influence would be the best for everybody.

“And all I can say is that, of course, it’s terrible that what’s happening and I feel really bad for everyone. And I think that’s why we have to be sport have to be example, and we have to be united that will have to be outside of politics to show example. At least in the inside the sport and I think that’s will be good message for I don’t know, for the  better world,” he said.

Can Rublev reach his 3rd Masters 1000 final?

Andrey Rublev breezed through his way into the semifinals at the Indian Wells Masters and is yet to drop a set all week in the Californian desert. He beat Grigor Dimitrov 7-5, 6-2 in the quarterfinal and will be up against American youngster Taylor Fritz in the semis. They have played each other 4 times so far on the ATP tour and have won 2 matches apiece.
