‘I Gonna Sue Her’ – When Rafael Nadal Went After the French Government Minister Roselyne Bachelot

In March 2016, the French Government Minister, Roselyne Bachelot, accused Nadal of doping. She went on to say that his seven-month injury layoff in 2012 was due to a positive doping test. Subsequently, the Spaniard reacted strongly to these allegations.

During an interview at the BNP Paribas Open, Nadal admitted that he will sue the minister for false allegations against him. He went on to say, “There is a couple of times that I heard comments like this and that’s what. This gonna be the last one because I gonna sue her. I’m tired about these things. I’d let it go a few times in the past, not more. I know how tough I work it to be here, to listen, it hurt that comments from a person that should be serious because (this) was a minister of a big country and a great country like France. I gonna sue her.”

Following this, Nadal filed a defamation suit against Bachelot in Paris. Subsequently, Roselyne Bachelot was ordered to pay $11,800 in damages to Rafael Nadal. The former World Number 1 revealed about donating this amount to a non-governmental organization or a foundation in France.
