With Rafael Nadal taking a huge step further by being invincible so far on the ATP tour this season. Consequently, increasing pressure on both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, to make their own marks on the men’s singles circuit. But, both the stars are facing problems of their own, preventing them from participating.
As there is uncertainty regarding Djokovic’s participation due to his stance on vaccination. Federer is currently recovering after a third knee surgery he had towards the tail end of 2021. The Swiss star, in his recent interviews, have made it clear that he is not expecting to be back on tour anytime soon and would be a miracle if he makes it to the Wimbledon.

Roger Federer talks about his potential comeback at a ski event in Switzerland
On Saturday, Federer attended the women’s super-G event in the skiing base of Lenzerheide at the Alpine Valley. The 20-time Grand Slam champion looks all fresh as he enjoys the event while posing for some photographs as well.
While giving an interview to SRF sport regarding his comeback, Roger made it quite clear that he is looking at a possible window of late summer and early autumn to stage his return.
“I had a really good MRI a few weeks ago, which I’m really happy about.”

The 20-time major champion continued, “I still have to wait a bit with running. I hope I can increase that more and more over the next few months and I hope I can make a comeback in the middle or at the end of the year.”

According to this timeline given by Federer, it almost rules out the possibility of him playing Wimbledon. Fans can expect the Swiss Maestro at the Laver Cup as promised, but he will be targeting the US hard-court season and striving for a successful comeback.

Federer also posed for photos with the US Ski and Snowboard team as their Twitter handle shared the same. A huge fan of winter sports, Roger always tries to attend such events to shower his support to all the athletes present.

During the event, Federer interacted with Swiss ski racers in the target area. An excited Wendy Holdener, who is part of the Swiss ski team, said, “I couldn’t say no to his hug.”

It’s evident from the short interview Roger Federer gave that there isn’t enough clarity over his exact comeback. According to the recent comments by coach Severin Luthi, the Swiss star will start hitting the courts soon and it will be a long journey for Federer before he gets his body back to shape.
