American tennis star Tommy Paul recently made an emotional plea to the Greenville City Council. In a video posted on social media, he asked the authorities to preserve the Elm Street tennis courts instead of focusing on converting it into a pickleball court. This comes amidst the rising popularity of pickleball, which threatens to overtake tennis in the US. Paul’s plea has struck a chord with fans and athletes alike. This comes after the $1 million Pickleball Grand Slam event’s success.

Paul’s emotional request to save the tennis courts in his hometown comes at a time when pickleball is becoming increasingly popular in the United States. There are concerns that it may overtake tennis as the preferred racquet sport. Paul’s plea has resonated with many fans and athletes who fear losing access to tennis courts in their communities. The not-so-difficult paddle sport continues to rise in popularity across the country.

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The game is played on a smaller court and with paddles and a plastic ball with holes. The sport is easy to pick up, making it popular with beginners, and is a great way to stay active and socialize. As the sport has grown, there has been a trend of converting tennis courts to pickleball courts. The trend has led to tension between the sport communities.

In a Facebook reel shared by the account Save Greenville Tennis, Tommy Paul can be seen sharing a strong opinion about preserving tennis courts. Many players and communities have been pushing back against the conversion of tennis courts for pickleball.
