Andre Agassi struggle with tennis during his early childhood days is well known to the tennis world. In his biography, Andre Agassi has described how badly he hated the sport during his childhood days. He described tennis as ‘torture‘ and the court as ‘prison‘. The 53-year-old tennis legend never got the chance to think about anything else other than tennis in his childhood.

Andre Agassi started his tennis journey when he was only 6 months old and ended it at the age of 36. During this tenure had won 60 titles including 8 Grand Slam triumphs. But after his retirement, Agassi has been a full-time social impact investor. He has been promoting education to help the underprivileged reach their goals.

Andre Agassi has built about 130 schools across the country

Andre Agassi recently came to ‘The AO Show‘ podcast. He revealed how his own lack of education and being pushed by his father to pursue a career in tennis, inspired him in his philanthropic journey. Agassi said, “Giving children giving children choice, right, because I never had it. And the biggest crime is children that don’t have choice because they’re just sort of bound to the downward spiral that the generations before them have not graduating high school and not going to college.

He further went on to add, “You know, gangs, you know, growing up in these. So, I’ve built about 130 schools across the country and some real economic challenge areas. And, any I’ve been motivated by giving to others what they deserve, you know, they deserve a chance.

Andre Agassi is also regarded as one of the most charitable athletes of his generation. He has been putting his constant efforts into helping disadvantaged youths and also assisting children to reach their goals in the world of sports.

‘Philanthropy is a wonderful thing’ – Andre Agassi

During an interview, Andre Agassi once said, “And you know, philanthropy is a wonderful thing. My foundation drives and supplements, there’s a lot of good stuff with a lot of good people doing great stuff and.. but it’s apparent it’s obvious it’s not scalable. Waiting for the government isn’t always, you know, the most optimistic process.”

He further added: “So, if you can’t solve these real daunting societal issues through the heart of a philanthropist. Because philanthropy ends when philanthropists run out of money or they redirect their interest to work resources, but if you can’t, we can’t do that.” 

Andre Agassi is teaching the world why people must look beyond their own suffering and be compassionate towards others. He is truly a leader on and off the court.
