Notably, he voiced the narration of the Netflix show ‘Never Have I Ever’.

How John McEnroe landed the role in ‘Never Have I Ever’

In a recent interview with NPR, McEnroe opened up about the incident that made him consider a role in the Netflix show. The former world number one remembers that he met the show’s creator, Mindy Kaling, at the Vanity Fair Oscar party.

“I was walking in to take a photograph with [my wife] Patty, and as I was walking in, Mindy was walking out. … As it turned out, her father, who was [from] India, was a big fan of mine. So somehow she came up with this idea that I should be the alter ego or psychologist or uncle or advisor to her, in essence, what I believe is her story, to a degree,” McEnroe said.

Although both McEnroe and the creators of the show were doubtful of the idea working out, the show garnered great success and applause from viewers.

McEnroe’s advice for Serena Williams and Roger Federer

Two of the biggest names in modern-day tennis, Serena Williams and Roger Federer?recently ended their professional tennis careers. While Williams played her last match in the US Open, Federer ended his career after a doubles loss at the Laver Cup alongside Rafael Nadal. In a recent interview, Williams poked fun by mentioning NFL QB Tom Brady, who returned to the sport after initially declaring retirement, hinting at a potential return to the court in the future.

While this may get fans excited, John McEnroe is not a big fan of coming out of retirement. While he believes it is completely up to Federer and Williams, he said that once a player announces retirement, they should just remain retired.
