When Frances Tiafoe Sr. and Alphina Kamara moved to the US from Sierra Leone in 1993 and 1996 respectively, they wouldn’t have imagined in their wildest dreams that their son would go on to represent the US as a professional tennis player. After all, their motivation to leave Sierra Leone was simply to ensure their own survival. However, right now, their son, Frances Tiafoe Jr., is making the news for all the right reasons. Right now, Tiafoe is the World No. 12 in men’s tennis. The 25-year-old is also regarded by many to become one of the giants of American men’s tennis in the years ahead. However, what does Tiafoe think about his long and arduous journey to the top of men’s pro tennis?

In a recent interview, Tiafoe revealed his motivations behind the glitz and glamor of professional tennis. According to the talented American, it’s all about his family.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Tiafoe revealed how it feels like to be one of the most highly rated tennis players in the world. The talented American also shared his motivation to excel in the world of professional tennis. All in all, it was an inspirational account, straight from the horse’s mouth.

According to Tiafoe, his motivation to succeed in tennis is simple. “I want to take care of my family”. During the interview, Tiafoe also mentioned the trickiness of succeeding in a field that’s always under global scrutiny. “At times, you want to be a normal guy but then on the flip side you get all the perks of doing well”.

Tiafoe went on to say, “It’s a Catch-22. It obviously takes an adjustment, that’s for sure”. Furthermore, Tiafoe said, “I do it because I love the game, I love being out there, love playing against the best players in the world and seeing what I can do.”

The US is avidly supporting Tiafoe at the 2023 French Open, but Coco Gauff has other ideas

The American women’s contingent is expected to fare better than the men’s contingent at the 2023 French Open. However, Tiafoe is one of American men’s tennis’ biggest hopes in terms of going deep into the tournament.

But, Tiafoe’s compatriot, Coco Gauff, very cheekily pulled Tiafoe’s leg ahead of the clay court showpiece. Gauff and Tiafoe trained ahead of the 2023 French Open. Following their draining training session, Gauff took to Instagram to poke fun at her compatriot.
