Legendary Tennis Star Boris Becker is going through a difficult situation at the moment. Becker was declared bankrupt in mid-2017 and is currently on trial, having failed to hand over assets. The assets also include his nine trophies and medals that he won over his 16 years on the ATP tour.

The report of bankruptcy spread like wild fire and it hit the German star hard.

Boris Becker facing trial after being declared bankrupt

As per reports, the German ace had been looking to pay off around $3.9 million loan from private bank. The bankruptcy decision came during the 2017 grass-court season, near Wimbledon. Becker was working as an analyst for the BBC and other Australian broadcasters.

He also told jury members that the bankruptcy was came at a bad phase of his life. His marriage was in shambles as his ex-wife Sharlely Becker and him were living in two different houses. As a result, Becker was paying rent for both and this became an additional cost to Boris Becker.

The 54-years-old informed the court, “As you can imagine, I was very shocked at the fact. Because it was all over world news, and I walked through the gate of Wimbledon and everyone knew. I was embarrassed because I was bankrupt.

The effect of damage was huge for Boris Becker especially in the European region which is his main source of income. With his name and fame, Boris explained that he had very expensive lifestyle to carry which might have led to his bankruptcy.

He also cites an “expensive divorce” from ex-wife Barbara Becker that involves high maintenance payments to their two sons.

Becker added[It is] very difficult when you are bankrupt and in the headlines every week for it. [It is] very difficult to make a lot of money with my name.

Further, the German star had denied all 24 charges of solvency against him that include concealing €825,000 of debt, removal of property amounting to almost €500,000, five accounts of failing to disclose estate and seven accounts of concealing property totaling more than €1.5million.
