Eyeing his first major of the year, Novak Djokovic outplayed Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round of the Wimbledon Championships. The defending champion looked in a comfortable position as he took 1 hour 53 minutes to defeat his fellow countryman 6-0 6-3 6-4. While the Serbian was appreciated for his performance, he was also involved in a bizarre incident. What, in Djokovic’s words, was ‘nothing personal’.

Winning the final point, Djokovic and Kecmanovic did the customary handshake on the net. Following the handshake, both headed toward the umpire. While Kecmanovic shook hands, Djokovic moved directly towards his bag, not shaking hands with the umpire.

The incident invited questions from the entire tennis community. Questions that required immediate attention from Djokovic. Following the win, the top seed headed towards the press conference, where he was questioned about the reason behind not shaking hands with the chair umpire.

Opening up about the incident, a surprised Djokovic admitted that he didn’t realize it. He also admitted that the act wasn’t personal and he will apologize for it.

Presuming Djokovic wins the clash, he would face his first Top 10 test in the quarterfinals. Looking at the draw, the World No. 3 will play his quarterfinal match against the winner of the match-up between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. With all three in form, it would be a thing to see who makes it to the semifinals.
