‘If He Kept His Head Together..’ – Controversial Star Nick Kyrgios’ Receives an Unexpected Boost From ‘Superbrat’ John McEnroe Ahead of US Open

Nick Kyrgios is having one of his most successful seasons in tennis. Although he is incredibly talented, his antics and on-court controversies have frequently overshadowed his performances. He did, however, perform exceptionally well at the just-completed Wimbledon Championships. Despite losing to Novak Djokovic in the championship match, the Australian star had a memorable tournament.

In the earlier part of the year, he and his former teammate Thanasi Kokkinakis won the Australian Open men’s doubles championship. John McEnroe, a tennis icon, recently praised Kyrgios.

The 63-year-old was the leader of Team World at the Laver Cup, which included Kyrgios. John McEnroe, a seven-time grand slam winner, is one of Nick Kyrgios’ harshest critics.

In a recent interview, though, he talked about the potential of the Australian star. He said “I love nick, he’s a great kid. He could win the whole thing if he kept his head together. That’s the bottom line he’s he moves the needle for us.”

In advance of the US Open, John McEnroe has lauded Nick Kyrgios as one of the most adaptive tennis players. Over the years, Kyrgios has grown into his professional life and made his way to various grand slams. 

Nick Kyrgios will not compete in the Davis Cup or Laver Cup.

Nick Kyrgios is having a terrific year in his career. Kyrgios competed for his first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon 2022, nine years after going professional. And now, in the run-up to the year’s last Slam, he is ready to show how eager he is to keep moving forward.

Nick Kyrgios has decided to forgo competing in the Davis Cup in order to spend more time with his family. The tournament’s group stage is set to take place in Glasgow, Bologna, Hamburg, and Valencia between September 13 and 18.

For the same, Kyrgios withdrew from the fifth Laver Cup, which will take place in London from September 23 to 25, earlier this month as well. Kyrgios has been a constant at the Laver Cup since its debut in 2017, posing a constant threat to Team World’s supremacy.

Meanwhile, Kyrgios is seeded 24th, and his best achievements at the US Open have been three third-round appearances. While he lost in the first round last year to 18th seed Roberto Bautista Agut.
