Nick Kyrgios riding high on spirit and form from the Wimbledon championships entered the American swing. The Australian who just made his Grand Slam finals debut was one of the most prominent contenders for the US Open trophy. With his Wimbledon slayer, Novak Djokovic, out of the tournament, the crowd was hoping to see him finally claim his first Grand Slam.

Though his dreams and fans’ expectation were trampled. The Russian tennis ace Karen Khachanov thrashed Kyrgios and made him pack his bags in the quarterfinals only. As a response to the dismissal, the latter had a few things to say.
Nick Kyrgios expresses himself
While addressing the press post in defeat in the clash for a position in the last four of the tournament, a devastated Kyrgios expressed his emotions. He said, “Honestly, I feel like shit. I feel like I have let so many people down.”
“I feel like these four tournaments are the ones that ever gonna matter. And it’s just like you have to start it all again. And I have to wait till Australian Open,” The 2022 Wimbledon Championships’ runner-up explained.

Thereafter, the former World no.13 added, “It’s devastating. It’s heartbreaking. Not just for me, for everyone that I know that wants me to win.” Though when he shared the clip, he captioned it positively. He wrote, “this one hurts…. I’ll be back.” Thus, one can say expect to see him bounce back harder.
Kyrgios after outclassing the defending champion and current world No.1 Daniil Medvedev in the round of 16 entered the hard courts of Arthur Ashe Stadium to take down another Russian.
However, this time the match favored his opponent. As even though he gave a tough fight in the first and claimed the second and third set, the former World no.8 slipped the last two sets and walked out of the US Open.
Kyrgios in the Citi Open
Although the American swing has now ended on a non-satisfactory note for the Aussie, it started marvelously. The 27-year-old following his achievements in greens of London claimed the doubles of the Atlanta Open with compatriot and old friend Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Then came the Citi Open, which polished his records and gave it a new milestone. Kyrgios claimed both the singles and doubles trophy on the same day in the hard courts of the ATP 500 event.

In singles, he thrashed Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets. Whereas in doubles alongside Jack Sock, he slipped the title out of Croatian- American pair of Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek.
