Victory in Madrid has boosted the confidence of the Spanish prodigy. Also, the young boy now has the confidence required to win a Grand Slam event. In a recent interview with sports broadcaster Eurosport, Alcaraz sounded confident going into the Roland Garros.
Carlos Alcaraz Ready for Grand Slam Challenge
In the interview, talking to Argentina’s La Nacion. Alcaraz stressed that he is fully confident about his chances going into the Roland Garros. As he believes, the two things required to win a Grand Slam are physical and mental strength. And the Spaniard is sure that he has got both right now.
“Physically, I feel very well. I am mentally strong. I am a strong player and in the end, that is what it takes to win a Grand Slam.” He said.
Also, Carlos seemed to be pretty happy with his performance. The 19-year-old recently defeated three current top players to win Madrid Open. He went on to add that this has been by far the best week of his career. But the young tennis sensation has better plans in mind. He is committed to his goal of becoming the best player in the world.
“I am also a guy who is quite clear about things. I am clear about my goal, I am clear about my dream, which is to be No. 1 in the world and no matter how many tournaments come, no matter how many things come right now, I still haven’t managed to be No. 1.” He added.
Looking at his current rank, which is number 6th, The Spaniard will have a stiff challenge from his compatriot and legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal, who has got astonishing records in the French Open tournament. Not to forget Novak Djokovic, the Serb won the trophy last year and will look forward to defending it.

Injury Concerns for Alcaraz
Alcaraz has been pretty ruthless in the ongoing year. The Spaniard has been putting his cent-percent effort to be at the top of his game. However, the demanding Madrid Open certainly had a bit of a toll on his body.

The 19-year-old missed out on the Rome Open that followed, citing an ankle injury as the reason. Although if experts are to be believed, it seems like a precautionary move from the world number 6 as he needed rest going into Roland Garros after winning in Barcelona and Madrid.
