After performing exceptionally well in recent months, Carlos Alcaraz has earned everyone’s praise. The 20-year-old Spanish sensation recently won his first ever Wimbledon and has now made his way into the finals of the Cincinnati Masters. His way stands the formidable force, Novak Djokovic. This would be a classic Wimbledon final after the two met each other a few months back. However, facing his opponent, Djokovic has nothing but praise for him, as he claims Alcaraz to be the mixture of the ‘Big 3’.
However, the Spanish player came up with a different answer to this. While he praised Novak Djokovic for his kind words, he highlighted the mindset that keeps him going.

Carlos Alcaraz strongly disagrees with Novak Djokovic ahead of the final
Novak Djokovic’s words of appreciation for the emerging Spanish tennis sensation, Carlos Alcaraz, have not only captured the tennis world’s attention but have also sparked a conversation about the young player’s unique identity. Djokovic drew parallels between Alcaraz’s multifaceted skills and the collective prowess of the renowned ‘Big 3’ – Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and himself. However, Alcaraz’s response to the comparison reflects his steadfast determination to forge his own path.
Appreciative of Djokovic’s recognition, Alcaraz graciously told the reporters that it is great to have comparisons to the greatest players in tennis. However, he would love to be the first Carlos Alcaraz rather than being someone from the next ‘Big 3’.
“It’s great someone like Novak says these things about you. Someone who played against the best Nadal, against the best Federer, & says I have some things about them. It’s great for me. But I don’t totally agree bc I always say I’m full Carlos Alcaraz. I didn’t put styles like Rafa, like Roger, like Novak. I just try to follow my own path, and try to create Carlos Alcaraz. I always say that. I’m believing that I’m not the characteristics of anyone but Carlos Alcaraz,” said Alcaraz in the interview.
Carlos Alcaraz says he doesn’t fully agree with Djokovic’s statement that he is a mix of The Big 3:

Thus, these words by Carlos Alcaraz reflect the confidence he possesses in himself and the hunger to make himself one of the next big stars in the tennis scene. However, Djokovic is not the only person who thinks that Alcaraz can become the next big thing in tennis.
