“I’m Humbled”: Novak Djokovic on Receiving Rare Serbian National Honor

2021 has been one of the greatest years for Novak Djokovic. Not only did the Serbian win 3 Grand Slams this year, but he also tied the all-time record.
Moreover, Novak Djokovic finished the year as the World No. 1 for a record seventh time. As the new season approaches, the Serbinator has been enjoying the holidays lately before getting back to preparations.
In recognition of his accomplishments, the country of Serbia bestowed one of the highest honors on Novak Djokovic.

Serbia honors Novak Djokovic with his own postal stamps
This week, the Serbian tennis legend’s country recognized him with his very own postage stamps! In fact, Novak Djokovic is now the only athlete from his country to have a stamp named and created after him.
The Serbian Postal Service (Post of Serbia) released two stamps. Not only does Novak now have a domestic stamp with his name on it, but he also has an international one. Moreover, both stamps have milestones from his career as the art on them.

Naturally, Djokovic expressed his happiness about the honor on Twitter. “Thank you to my generous country for this rare gift! I’m humbled!!” he tweeted. Furthermore, he shared news about his Foundation‘s charity work with the authority. “We’ll partner with the Serbian National Postal Service on @novakfoundation projects for every child to have the opportunity to attend preschool.”

Founded in 2007, The Novak Djokovic Foundation has advocated for children’s inclusive education, supporting disadvantaged communities. Especially in Novak’s native country Serbia, his Foundation aims to help each and every child.
Then, Djokovic followed it up with another tweet talking about how he and his wife Jelena. “Now (Jelena) and I will take some stamps home for the kids to write to Santa.”

Djokovic’s foundation wants the best for Serbian kids
Djokovic’s foundation dedicated itself to doing the best for Serbian children. In fact, he talked about the same. “We want, and we are committed to that (children’s development) every day, that in the next 10 years, every child in Serbia has access to kindergarten and the conditions to dream and realize their dreams,” he said.

Furthermore, Djokovic also thanked the Serbian Post for joining them on their mission. “Together we will try to get the results as soon as possible, and we are glad that more and more partners are joining us, including the Post of Serbia.”
