Daniil Medvedev is known as a controversial drama queen on the court. His outbursts are infamous, and fans often watch his matches, hoping to watch one of his meltdowns. However, Medvedev, on the other hand, is hoping that he will change soon. The heat of the match can get to anyone, and he did wish for fatherhood to help him gain control over his faculties.

Although the Russian player has been a father for a few months now, he is still struggling to fulfill his fatherly duties. He had previously joked about how his wife had to take over. This may be why fatherhood hasn’t helped him change yet.

First-time fathers often talk about how the new duties have brought about a major change in them. One of the biggest changes shared by new fathers is that they feel they have become more mature as the added responsibilities become their biggest priority. However, that is not the case for Daniil Medvedev. The player who often fights on the court feels that fatherhood has not changed him.

Before he stepped into the Miami Open, the defending champion discussed this with the press. He said, “As a player, I don’t think (fatherhood) has changed me, to be honest. But hopefully, it helps me mature a little bit. Many times, I’m still immature on the court, but I feel like I’m improving slowly every year. That’s my goal.”

Medvedev shares how his wife had to take over

After beating Félix Auger-Aliassime in the third round of the Australian Open, Daniil Medvedev was asked about how his sleep schedule was impacted after his daughter came into his life. Medvedev said, “That’s a big problem. I go there to sleep with my daughter, and at first, I am very cautious. Then I sleep and wake up at 9, and she is not there.”

Later, his wife informed him that their baby was making noise at the time, but Medvedev simply slept through it, which is why his wife took their daughter with her. He also added, “My wife does all the job at night”.
