Patrick Mouratoglou is always on the top of tennis controversies. Be it Instagram, Twitter or real life, Mouratoglou does not shy away from expressing his honest opinions. More often than not, his statements land him in the bad books of fanbases of several athletes. However, Mouratoglou doesn’t seem to care about these things and only speaks with brutal honesty. Recently, he is making headlines again with a controversial list of the best ATP servers.

Mouratoglou recently gave out a list of his favorite servers in the ATP. However, in listing the top 5 names, Serena Williams’ ex-coach left out names like- Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. Tennis fans and players alike have reacted to this list and Brad Gilbert himself is now making a list of his own. As it seems, Mouratoglou has once again given tennis fans something to gear up about and place their bets on right before Indian Wells.

2 – Isner

3 – Roddick

4 – Karlovic

5 – Sampras

According to Mouratoglou, Nick’s serve is at the top because he tackles even seasoned players with his serve. Players find it difficult to return his serve and that is why he takes the no.1 spot on Mouratoglou’s list. On the other hand, Isner, who holds the record for most aces on tour took the second spot with “violent” Andy Roddick hooking up to no.3.

However, even after naming Karlovic and Sampras, British tennis icon Liam Broady was shocked to see that there was no Federer and Djokovic on the list.

Expressing his disappointment, Broady remarks-

Taking a cue from Broady, Mardy Fish updated the list but at the same time did not put Roger Federer in his top 5 best serves. Instead, he listed players like Ivanisevic and Wayne Arthurs.

As the tweet reached tennis coach Brad Gilbert, he updated his followers about a new list that he is working on right now. He mentioned that he will also take into account second serves and the list will feature players from 1991 to now.

Talking about Pete Sampras being at no.5 on Mouratoglou’s list, Gilbert said that he deserves to be higher up on the list. In fact, the list cannot be narrowed down to top 5 and instead should feature top 10 best servers of the ATP, according to Gilbert.

However, despite the differences over Federer and Djokovic, Mardy Fish and Liam Brody seemed to come together on one stance- that Pancho Gonzales deserved to clinch the no. 1 spot. The thirteen-time Grand Slam champion was recorded hitting the fastest serve at 112.88 mph.
