Carlos Alcaraz got engaged in a heated argument with the chair umpire after things turned a bit ugly during the R32 clash against Perricard. He wasn’t pleased with getting the serve clock warning. He wrote, “I’m always very quick, I never get warnings. You gave me two in one set. It’s impossible to play tennis like this.” However, this isn’t the first time, previously we’ve seen Carlos Alcaraz lose his temper on multiple occasions this year. That’s pretty unusual for someone as cool and calm as Alcaraz!

For example, during the 2024 French Open final, we saw the Spaniard complaining to the chair umpire about the court conditions. He felt there wasn’t enough clay on the surface. Alcaraz was heard yelling, “This is unbelievable! It’s not a clay court, it’s a hard court. No clay there.”

Then another incident took place during his R2 loss against Gael Monfils at the Cincinnati Open this year. Carlos Alcaraz faced a lot of criticism for smashing his racquet multiple times on the court in frustration.  He later even had to issue an apology to his fans, stating, “I apologize because my attitude yesterday was not correct and it is something that should not be done on the track.

However, thankful we’d see him in all smiles yet again in Beijing since he has now managed to beat Perricard by 6-4,6-4 in that match. Who are his probable opponents in the China Open in the upcoming matches?

Major obstacles on Carlos Alcaraz’s road to the finals at the 2024 China Open

After having a wonderful outing at the Laver Cup, Carlos Alcaraz has successfully managed to carry forward that winning momentum at the China Open. He dominated every aspect of the game in the match against Perricard. He will next face Tallon Griekspoor in the second round.

Then in the QF, his probable opponent will be either Karen Khachanov or Francisco Cerundolo. Carlos Alcaraz has a clear-cut edge over both of them in the H2H. So, this won’t be too much challenging for the Spaniard.

However, if he manages to reach the SF, then he could cross paths with Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev is a threat in any tournament. If Alcaraz manages to overcome all these obstacles, then the tennis fans may well witness yet another lip-smacking clash between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the China Open.
