The 2023 Wimbledon winner, Carlos Alcaraz, was a part of the massive tournament in Beijing. He reached the semifinals and had his match against Jannik Sinner. To everyone’s surprise, the cards did not fall in his favor and he had to bow out of the tournament, whereas the Italian tennis star proceeded to the finals and even won the China Open tournament.

Owing to his loss, Alcaraz was recently in an interview where he was asked about his experience playing in Beijing and what is the most important thing he has learned while he was there. And his answer to this question is something we can all learn something from.

Alcaraz was interviewed before he left Beijing after his loss. Since he was the champion in Wimbledon and defeated the current world no. 1 Novak Djokovic to win that tournament, people had high expectations of him. They were probably expecting him to win this one as well.

Unfortunately, that did not happen. So the interviewer asked him what is the lesson he had taken from tennis was. And to our surprise, the answer was related to something that was not about the sport or the career.

He said, “Probably, that I can’t make everyone happy, that I have to focus on myself and not expect to make others happy. It is impossible. Be me at all times.

It can be assumed that he received a bit of negativity from the internet after his loss and maybe that is why he felt that he should have this mentality if he wants to sustain in the sport for long. After sharing what his lesson from tennis is, the Spaniard also shared what he is aiming to do by the end of the year professionally.

Carlos shares his professional goals till the end of the year

Further in the same interview, the former world number 1 also talked about his aims for this year. He shared how he wants to regain his ranking. That is one of the main goals he wants to achieve by the end of the season. Alcaraz also talked about the failures he has had and how he feels he can do better every day.
