Yesterday, at the Boss Open in Stuttgart, we saw Andy Murray beat Nick Kyrgios in an eventful semi-final match. After losing the first set in a tie-breaker, Kyrgios smashed his racket on the ground. However, after the match, the Aussie took to social media and complained about some members of the crowd abusing him. Later, authorities of the Stuttgart Open released a statement regarding the situation.
Stuttgart Open releases a statement regarding Nick Kyrgios’ accusations
Earlier today, the Stuttgart Open issued a press release where they said, “We have expressed our regret towards Nick Kyrgios and his team and assured that any kind of discrimination is unacceptable. Incident is currently under investigation.”

It is worth noting that Kyrgios posted a story on his Instagram account regarding the incident. He wrote, “When is this going to stop? Dealing with racist slurs from the crowd? I understand that my behaviour isn’t the best all the time, but ‘you little bl*ck sheep’ ‘shut up and play’ – little comments like this are not acceptable. When I retaliate to the crowd I get penalised. This is messed up.”

During his semi-final match against Murray, the Australian played some exceptional tennis in the first set. However, he got into an altercation with the crowd in the second set, which forced the chair umpire to give him a game penalty. In the end, Kyrgios lost the second set 6-2.
Kyrgios’ altercations with chair umpires and the crowd this year
Safe to say, this was not the first time this season we have seen something like this from Kyrgios. During his quarter-final match against Rafael Nadal at Indian Wells, the Australian player got into an altercation with the crowd. Then, he had an argument with the chair umpire. After losing to Nadal, he threw his racket in frustration, which almost hit a ball kid.
After that incident, he received around a $25,000 fine. Later, at the Miami Open fourth round, he again lost his cool and got into a squabble with the chair umpire. As a result, ATP fined him around $35,000.

Sadly, his antics did not end here, as he had another controversial moment at the ATP Houston where he questioned the umpire’s credibility. Although he did not receive any major fines for that event, many fans criticized his behavior on the court.
Can Kyrgios control his emotions and make his mark in the upcoming Wimbledon Championship?
