The 2024 Indian Wells Masters tournament presents a wonderful opportunity for many American players to get their season back on track. One such example is Frances Tiafoe, who hasn’t lived up to expectations this season. At 26, he is in the prime phase of his career, where he hopes to win big titles. To do so, he’ll have to overcome the challenge of Dusan Lajovic first.

Similarly, Lajovic has had an inconsistent start to the 2024 season. While he lost in the first round at the Australian Open, Lajovic had back-to-back quarterfinal appearances at the Argentina Open and Rio Open. In the opening-round contest at Indian Wells, Lajovic got the better of Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets. With a positive start here, the Serb will be riding high on confidence when he takes on Tiafoe.

The two have often found each other on opposite ends of the court. During their career, Tiafoe and Lajovic have faced off against each other five times. While Lajovic won their first meeting at Indian Wells back in 2017, Tiafoe has won the other four. They last played against each other in Estoril where Tiafoe won in three sets. Given the strong head-to-head record, the American star looks a firm favorite against Lajovic.
