In an interview before his match with Carlos Alcaraz for his special on Netflix called ‘The Netflix Slam’, he was asked if he is close to retiring from the tournament because of Roger Federer. To which he added, “A part of my life left with him, but that thought never pushed me to any retirement.”

Further, he cleared for his fans that the real reason he is retiring is because of his body. He admitted, “What put me in a position to be close to retirement is my body more than anything else.” He also added that in his mind he feels that he still has the same passion for the sport which he did previously but he does not have the body for it.
