Indian Wells 2024: Jannik Sinner’s Act of Chivalry Leaves Ball Girl Blushing in Adorable Scenes

The Indian Wells semi-final clash between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner was halted due to rain. During this pause in play, what caught the attention of everyone was the 2024 Australian Open winner’s interaction with a ball girl. Sinner, who had a heartwarming moment with little kid on the court last year, has once again justified why the young Italian was voted as the fans’ favorite last year.
As the play was suspended the ball kids rushed themselves beside the players and held out umbrellas to shield them. But Sinner invited the ball girl to sit with him and then proceeded to hold the umbrella open for himself shielding both of them from the downpour. The ball girl can be seen smiling gleefully as she had a heartwarming moment with the world number 3.

The cameras also captured Sinner having a conversation with the ball girl about her duties. Sinner’s act of chivalry led the commentators to label the moment as “adorable.” Sinner led 2-1 with 17 minutes on the clock when the play was interrupted for three hours. Upon resumption, Alcaraz overcame Sinner in three sets winning 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the final. Despite the loss, Sinner’s gesture for the ball girl will hold him in good stead within the tennis community.
Sinner, who has established his image as a humble gentleman, be it because of him stopping by the fan kids to interact or to respect co-players, added another moment in his humility diaries with this incident. Last year at the ATP finals in November, Sinner had an emotional moment with a little kid before his semifinal match.
When Jannik Sinner entered the court, a little boy stood in front of him with an oversized tennis ball in his hand. Sinner shook Matteo’s hand and walked with him to the players’ bench. Seven-year-old Matteo has been suffering from a tumor for four years and wanted to enjoy a special moment. In the same year, Sinner was voted the Fans’ Favourite singles player in the ATP Awards.
His latest action will also catch the attention of his fan club the “Carota Boys”, whom Sinner finally met last year.

Back when the tennis star was crowned with the Fans’ favorite award, he credited the win to none other than his famous fan club, ‘The Carota Boys’. “I don’t know them really, really well at the moment. I got the names, but I still got a little bit confused. It’s because they have this good-looking costume with the Carota. But still, it’s great to have this dedicated fan club to be honest. It’s growing, so I’m happy for them,” the young Italian said.

“The Carota Boys” fan club became famous worldwide for showing up at tournaments in carrot costumes for Sinner’s matches. The idea behind their unusual costume stems from a changeover in Vienna in 2019 when Sinner munched on a carrot.
