Getting injured during a tennis match is nothing new. Players take medical timeouts a lot of times when something like this happens. However, just recently when Novak Djokovic took a timeout during his match against Alex de Minaur at the United Cup, he was bashed by tennis fans for faking an injury just because he was at the losing end of the match.

And now Rafael Nadal showed a similar pattern during his match against Jordan Thompson at the Brisbane International. And Djokovic’s fans are taking full advantage of the situation to make sure that they bash him down the same way.

Novak Djokovic’s fans react to Rafael Nadal taking an injury timeout as he was losing at the Brisbane International

Rafael Nadal was playing against Jordan Thompson when he took a break and was seen in distress rubbing his thigh. He eventually lost the match with a score of 7-5, 6-7, 3-6, being knocked out of the Brisbane International. While Nadal’s injury might be legitimate, Djokovic fans were in no mood to accept it.

One of the fans commented, “I thought it was only yesterday that he said he feels no pain and is very happy.” Djokovic’s fans pointed to the fact that Nadal had recently pointed out how he is okay to play more and is not facing any health issues. However, this incident seems to point in a different direction.

Another fan added, “Just like clockwork the injury excuses have again started.” Fans also pointed to the fact that as soon as Nadal realized that the match is now out of his hands, he started the fake injury setup.

A comment said, “The irony of Rafans saying the other day that Novak was starting with the injury faking with the wrist.” This directly pointed to the fact that the same people who were pointing fingers at Djokovic are now siding with Nadal over the same incident.

The reactions did not stop. Another one was, “Lance Armstrong of tennis.” Tennis fans were literally making fun of the fact that how Nadal pulled the same thing as Djokovic and is not being called out for it.

One of the last comments was, “Here comes the fake injury bs of Dull.” Tennis fans were also annoyed about how the timeout was just a way to distract everyone from the result of the match.

Well, we are not sure about how this might turn out and if the allegation against both players is even true or not, but fans surely are having the time of their lives arguing on social media. on the other hand, Djokovic has claimed that he is absolutely fit and ready to give his best at the Australian Open 2024.

Novak Djokovic makes his intentions clear for the fans

After being accused of faking an injury timeout at the United Cup while playing against Alex de Minaur, tennis fans were waiting for a statement from Djokovic. Even though he did not comment on the timeout, he did mention that he thinks he will be okay and will be able to get himself in the right shape for the tournament.

He also added that Australian Open is what matters to him the most and he does not want to focus on his injury. It is so because he does not want to take the credit away from Alex de Minaur for winning the match. Lastly, Novak Djokovic added that everyone should move on from it and he looks forward to the Grand Slam event.
