At just 18, Carlos Alcaraz made headlines by winning his first ATP title at the 2021 Croatia Open. He became the youngest champion in over a decade. His rise didn’t stop there. In 2022, he claimed victories at the Rio Open and Miami Masters. Then came a historic Madrid Open win, where he defeated both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The peak arrived at the 2022 US Open, crowning him the youngest world No. 1 within two years. Despite this dazzling rise, the personal headline “who is he dating?” remains a mystery. Could the Spaniard be seeing someone now?
During a December visit to New York, a playful moment with magician Daniel Fernandez offered a peek into Alcaraz’s future. Amid laughter, the young star imagined his final Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2037 and a family of three. When asked about his future wife’s name, a smile spread across his face. With a touch of uncertainty, he said, “Umm, I’m not sure, I will say Maria.” But he’s already had a Maria in his life!

Who is Maria Gonzalez?
Carlos Alcaraz and Maria Gonzalez Gimenez share a connection that’s caught fans’ attention. Back in 2023, Tennis Tonic posted an Instagram story showing Alcaraz giving Maria a quick kiss on the cheek, captioned, “I miss you.” They met at the tennis academy where Carlos trained. Maria hasn’t gone pro yet but has competed in notable tournaments like the Spanish Masters, ITF Futures, and ATP Challenger events.
Maria trains at Murcia Club de Tenis and recently graduated with a law degree from the University of Murcia. As of February 2025, her net worth is $1 million, earned through playing for the Murcia Tennis Club, however, her annual income is undisclosed. Maria stays out of the spotlight- her Instagram is simple, her captions clever, and her life refreshingly down-to-earth.

Neither Maria nor Carlos has publicly confirmed they’re together. But in a February 2023 chat with Vogue, Carlos hinted at a breakup. He said, “It’s complicated, never staying in one place. It’s hard to find the person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.” At that point, he’d been single for nearly 18 months.
Still, Carlos and Maria follow each other on Instagram. Has that stopped the love rumors? Not a chance!

Though nothing solid has come out of these whispers, the speculation only heats up, especially during international tournaments where players often cross paths.

Alcaraz stays tight-lipped about his love life but admits the nonstop travel makes dating tough. On the Molusco TV podcast, he said, “I’m single, but I’m looking for someone. It can be difficult for a tennis player to meet the right person, because they are always on the move. Who knows what will happen this year.” When asked if he was seeing anyone, he was clear: “No, no, no commitments for now, I’m single.”
Carlos reacts to other tennis players sharing engagment news on the tour
Last year, several tennis stars took their off-season to make big moves in their love lives. British No. 1 Katie Boulter and Australian world No. 9 Alex de Minaur announced their engagement just before Christmas. November 2024 saw Casper Ruud get engaged to Maria Galligani, and Alexei Popyrin popped the question to Amy Pederick. Alex de Minaur’s engagement to Katie Boulter followed in December 2024.

Reacting to his rivals’ happy news, Alcaraz shared with a smile, “I’ve laughed several times with people close to me, when I discovered that three or four players got engaged during the winter break. I thought it would be my turn, but not yet.”
Right now, the Spaniard is laser-focused on tennis. He’s gearing up for his third final of the 2025 season against Jannik Sinner at the Italian Open. Will he soon drop news of a blossoming romance? Only time will tell!
