The current generation of tennis fans is one of the luckiest as they got to see three genius tennis players playing in the same era. Roger Federer came first, followed by Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. While on the court, they are the toughest of rivals, off the field, they share a beautiful camaraderie. In fact, the relationship between Federer and Nadal is more of a bromance.

Over the years cameras have caught some candid moments of Nadal and Federer, which prove that the bond between the two is eternal.

There was a funny moment in the Australian Open when tennis legend and commentator Jon McEnroe was interviewing Roger Federer, which reminded McEnroe of Federer’s bromance with Rafael Nadal.

McEnroe’s cheeky comment on Federer’s relationship with Nadal

Back in 2019, at the Australian Open, McEnroe donned the commentator’s hat and interviewed Federer. It was an on-court interview after the Swiss maestro defeated Denis Istomin 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the Open. In the middle of a question from McEnroe, someone shouted from the stands, “Roger, I love you.”

Making a funny remark about it, the 63-year-old asked Federer if it was Nadal. “Is that Rafa up there?” McEnroe said. The 20-time Grand Slam champion also couldn’t stop laughing at the funny remark.

Nadal couldn’t hold up his tears as Roger Federer retires

If anyone has a doubt about their bromance, they can see the footage from Federer’s retirement game. The 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal was very emotional and broke into tears as the Swiss maestro shared the court with him for one last time.

At the O2 arena, the legendary duo of Federer and Nadal were in tears, sitting side by side. The duo played their last game together as they lost the first round of the Laver Cup match against the American duo of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

Later, Nadal reacted to Federer’s retirement saying a part of his life is leaving too. Nadal and Federer had one of the best rivalries in modern-day tennis. They clashed 40 times in their career and Nadal won 24 of them while Federer won 16.
