Novak Djokovic is in his best form and is aspiring to clinch his 21st grand slam title, as he reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2022. The Serb faced Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals of the SW19, who gave a tough challenge to him.

Djokovic discussed the strategy and mindset that he applied to get over the initial struggle and how he came out victorious.

How does Novak Djokovic overcome pressure?

Novak Djokovic had to face a tough opponent in the form of Sinner, who pushed him to his extremes by making it a five-set match. Djokovic had lost the first two sets to the young Italian player. However, the defending champion managed to make a comeback by winning the remaining three sets.

Later, he talked about how he dealt with the initial pressure and what helped him to reach his goal.

He said, “As negative and down you feel on yourself in those moments, it really gives you an effect and support if you’re trying to find the right and positive affirmation and tell that to yourself and kind of reanimate yourself in a way.

He changed his mindset and then went into the game head-on. Djokovic even gave examples of situations where he has used the same strategy.

He stated, “It’s what I’ve done after I lost two sets of Roland Garros against Tsitsipas, and today, it worked. It doesn’t always work, it’s not a guarantee that it will always work but I just feel like I had to change something.”

Novak Djokovic is all set to face Cameron Norrie in the semi-finals of the Wimbledon 2022. On the other hand, Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the semi-finals against Nick Kyrgios because of his abdominal injury.

He got this injury during the quarter-finals against Taylor Fritz and now he cannot play in the semi-finals. Moreover, there was a probability of Djokovic and Nadal facing each other in the finals of the SW19. However, this will not be possible now.
