Nick Kyrgios crashed out of the Miami Open 2022 in the worst possible way after a 7-6(3), 6-3 straight-sets defeat to Jannik Sinner. The anger and frustration got to him, and he ended up hurling some undesired phrases against the umpire and the crowd.

His opponent, the 20-year-old Jannik Sinner, shared what he felt might have happened to trigger the Australian player and set him off.
The Italian said, “What I understood, the court there is a little bit different than the center court. He usually played on the center court, which he said it was a little bit slower. The rest, I didn’t understand.”

He added, “I mean, I just tried to stay in my zone, and, yeah, I think that was the right choice.”
Jannik Sinner stayed in control during his first match against Nick Kyrgios
This was the first match between these two players. Nick Kyrgios maintained an aggressive play, but Janik Sinner proved too consistent and composed to be defeated.

The 20-year-old showed an extremely calm demeanor during Nick Kyrgios’ outburst that came after the umpire’s walkie-talkie went off. The Aussie, who hurled various words toward umpire Carlos Bernardes and the crowd, received a point penalty for his unsportsmanlike conduct.

Nick Kyrgios could not get past the point penalty and hit a double fault to lose the set. He further received a game penalty when he smashed his racket and lost his serve start. Sinner took full advantage of this and raced away with the set and match.

The World No. 11 stayed true to his game and advanced to the quarterfinals. He will face Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo for a place in the last four at the Miami Open 2022.
