This American number 16 ATP star yesterday defeated Polish Hubert Hurkacz to reach the tour’s semifinals. He will face Nicolas Jarry tomorrow. Not many months ago Paul had to retire from his Miami Open match against Martin Damm on Court 7 as he rolled his ankle during the match. “Unfortunate Scenes! @TommyPaul1 is forced to retire vs Damm due to injury. Wishing Tommy a speedy recovery” wrote Tennis TV.

This news caused a huge anxiety among his fans. A prominent tennis source brought good news easing fans’ tension on X (formerly Twitter). “Some good news on a rough results day in Miami for US men’s tennis: Heard from Tommy Paul’s team that his injury today isn’t expected to be too bad, prognosis of just 2-2.5 weeks to recover from this ‘basic ankle sprain ‘” the source tweeted.

Before the Miami Open accident, this American ATP star rolled his ankle exactly a week before the Miami Open, during his match against Daniil Medvedev on the Indian Wells tour. Paul also suffered an ankle injury in 2020 March, which made his hard-court ambitions that season really short. Despite such challenges, Paul’s ravishing entry to the Rome’s semifinals shows his hard work and dedication. It also very much impressed his fans. Friend Mathew McConaughey’s comment on this matter represents nothing but the fraternity’s evolving faith in Tommy Paul’s brilliance.
