In 2021, at the Australian Open, Tsitsipas pulled off an impressive victory against the 22-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal. The 24-year-old tennis player has faced the Spaniard only two times in the Australian Open. First back in 2019 in the semi-finals. And then in 2021, when he got the opportunity to defeat the Spaniard at the Grand Slam tournament’s quarter-final.

Stefanos Tsitsipas on defeating Rafael Nadal 

The 24-year-old tennis player was recently invited to appear on the Red Bull podcast show, Mind Set Win, in which he talked about how over the years he has grown to be more patient. And while talking about how his on-court behavior has helped him change the course of his tennis career. He talked about his biggest victory, which came in the Australian Open when he defeated the Spaniard.

He said, “It was a pure fight. It was all mental. It was excruciating, physically and mentally—I don’t think I’ve ever played at such high focus levels for so long. Everything felt like it made sense. It’s like a drug when you’re able to experience it—it brings you to another level. You’re not playing with your skill anymore, you’re playing with your soul.”

However, this was not the first time the Australian Open finalist talked about his memorable win.

After that amazing victory, the 2022 Australian Open finalist was impressed with himself. He felt that playing against a top tennis player like Rafael Nadal was something he had never experienced before.
