“It’s Like University”: Andrey Rublev Reacts After Defeating Daniil Medvedev For the First Time in His Career

In an exciting semi-final clash at the Cincinnati Masters 2021, World No.7 Andrey Rublev defeated the top seed Daniil Medvedev in three sets. Rublev made a phenomenal comeback against his compatriot and beat him, despite losing the first set. The final scoreline of the match was 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Interestingly, this is the first time when Andrey Rublev has defeated Daniil Medvedev in a singles match. With this victory, he has now advanced to his second Masters 1000 finale.
In the post-match interview, Rublev seemed completely speechless. However, he made a really sarcastic comment when he was asked about his feeling of defeating Medvedev for the very first time in his professional career.

“It’s like university, when you pass they give you a diploma,” said Rublev in the interview.
It is an incredible feeling for Rublev. It is because of this reason that he compared his recent triumph at the Cincinnati Masters 2021 to achieving a university diploma.
