With the US Open just a few days away, top tennis players have made it to New York and practice has been going on in full swing. Meanwhile, the qualifying rounds of the tournament have already begun, with players aiming to make it to the main draw of the tournament that’ll begin on August 28. During the qualifying rounds, a shocking incident took place at the US Open, involving a former ATP player.

The incident took place during the first-round qualifying match between Hamad Medjedovic and Borna Gojo. Victor Troicki, the former pro player, coaches his compatriot, Medjedovic. He was seen cheering for the Serb when the shocking incident took place. Here’s what happened.

The event took place in the stands as Troicki asked the man behind him to ‘tamp down,’ his support for Gojo, according to the Daily Mail. However, Troicki’s remarks weren’t taken in a good way by the man, as he became enraged and started ranting.

He began by saying, “You can’t do that here it’s New York, not Serbia, f***ing clown.” Further, he went on to add, “We’re cheering you d**k, it’s New York it’s not f***ing Serbia.”

It seems as if the man didn’t realize that the man he was engaged in an argument was a former ATP star. Subsequently, a shocked onlooker said to him, “That’s a former player man! You’re talking to Victor Troicki man!”

It hasn’t been an ideal turn-up to the US Open with this surprising controversy raising people’s eyebrows ahead of the big two weeks. However, controversies haven’t been an uncommon thing this year at Grand Slams.
