“It’s Not Fair”: Novak Djokovic Opens Up on Heckler Fan During His R2 Victory at US Open 2021

On day 4 of the US Open, some of the game’s absolute best took to the courts of New York and battled it out to surpass each other. Naturally, with a certain giant chasing history, fans were in for an eventful day. Headlining the action in New York was Novak Djokovic as he took on Tallon Griekspoor in his round 2 clash.
Man on a mission, Novak Djokovic put on yet another show against Tallon Griekspoor at the US Open. The World No. 1 played at his sublime best as he continued on his quest for a Calendar- Grand Slam. The Serbian, who entertained the crowd with his shot selection, cruised past his French opponent quite comfortably.

However, in a rather upsetting moment, a rude fan attempted to break the Serbian’s momentum, heckling him before every point. Novak, who maintained his composure and remain unbothered, complained to the chair umpire of the unacceptable behavior, eventually. Post the game, the ‘G.O.A.T.’ opened up about the same.

Undoubtedly, Novak was not happy with the treatment of the fan seated in the front row. In fact, he even had a stare-down with the rude spectator, who kept disturbing him between his forehands. However, upon complaining to the chair umpire, the rude fan corrected his behavior.
The Serbian said, “When someone from team sports watches it, they probably say “what a spoiled brat”, but it’s a different sport. I am fine with the noise, but if someone does it intentionally during the point over and over again, then it’s not fair.”

The fan’s attempts were of no good, as Novak remained focused on his end goal. Displaying sheer focus and maturity on the court, he continued his fine run of form and set himself up for an enticing round 3 clash.

Djokovic moves on to the next round
With history at stake, Novak played at his sheer best and defeated the youngster in straight sets. As the final scoreline read 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, Novak moved one step closer to achieving the remarkable feat, once deemed impossible.
Next up, the 34-year-old faces Kei Nishikori. Having recently met at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, fans wait in anticipation to see what Kei can produce against the 20-time Grand Slam champion.
